JasonCollins

Ok, here’s the deal. People should follow their hearts and minds. You should live the life that you want to live. If you want to be a guy who is known for fixing up cars, then be that guy. If you want to be known as someone who helps people that are less fortunate than you are, then be that person. If you want to be an a**hole, then be the best a**hole that you can be. But here is my question. Have you ever heard of someone coming out in the media and saying that they want to admit that they like to watch Star Wars movies wearing nothing but a Chewbacca mask? Sure, its weird to some people and many people won’t agree with it, but who really cares. Now, Jason Collins announcement is being compared to when Magic came out and admitted to having HIV. I don’t think its that big a deal. Especially when you get over the initial shock. Only because its Jason Collins. I ask many people who don’t follow basketball or are limited followers and I ask them about Jason Collins. Usually, I get the response, “Who?” Many people don’t even know who he is. He has terrible numbers and he has played for several teams getting minimal time. Is this announcement just the start to something bigger? What happens when a superstar comes out and makes this announcement. What if it was LeBron, Kobe or Durant? What if it was Mike Tyson or Floyd Mayweather Jr? Or one of those MMA guys? Would that open the minds of people in and out of sports? Again, I am not here to judge anybody, but why such a big announcement, and why now? Is Jason Collins even still in the league? He was there for 12 or more seasons and never said a word. Just curious about the timing. What do you think?
