On this day, February 19th, in consecutive years both Hakeem the Dream Olajuwon and Sir Charles Barkley pulled joined the 10,000 rebound club. In 1995 Olajuwon pulled down his 10,000 board while fasting. He hadn’t eaten anything and not only had 9 boards, he added 24 points. That’s amazing being that he had no energy and played just about the whole game. I need a full stomach to walk up the stairs to my apartment. Good job Hakeem, you are the man. Now Barkley, on the other hand, was doing no fast and had not shortage of cheeseburgers, but he could pull down boards like a mad man. That’s what got him the nickname “the round mound of rebound.” Both Barkley and Olajuwon are in the club or 10,000 rebounds. Not sure how many boards I have in my career, but I would probably have to multiply my number by 4 or 5 to even get close to these numbers. I think I will stick to throwing up bricks from the three point line and hanging court. See you on the court tomorrow morning.
