UNLV
103-73. A score that all Duke fans will remember. In On today, April 2, 1990, Duke had a great team. Led by Christian Laettner and Bobby Hurley, the Devils took the ACC title in dominating fashion. Tobacco Road was all Duke. Coach Mike Krzyzewski was young and had his team poised for a championship. But then they ran across the UNLV Runnin Rebels. A team of domination and fierce defense and running ability. Three of the five starters went on to be legitmite NBA stars. Greg Anthony, Plastic Man Stacey Augmon and LJ or Grandmama, Larry Johnson. This was not going to be Duke’s year. In the championship game, UNLV jumped on Duke and never got off of them. Beat Down would be a nice way to put it. 103-73, records for most points in the championship game and largest margin of victory. There were so many turnovers for Duke and so many dunks and three point baskets for UNLV, including at least two threes from their power forward Larry Johnson (one of the scariest men in college basketball history). Although Duke would get revenge in the next year, this year was all UNLV. Here is a video of some of the highlights. It was a thing to see, even now.
